The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency said it has reported controversial Nigerian musician, Speed Darlington to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl.

Darlington, popularly known as Akpi, had confessed that he once slept with a 15-year-old girl in Anambra State.

The singer made this revelation in a viral Instagram live video, stating that he slept with a 15-year-old virgin in a hotel.

While describing the encounter in Igbo language, Speed Darlington also revealed that he has to pay the hotel staff extra fees to clean up the sheets that was messed up with blood.

“Before they could come change the sheets for me, I had to give N2,000. Because the thing is somehow, to tell an adult to come and clean blood that I brought out of the body of a 15-year-old girl. I can never work for anybody, lai lai. I only work for myself,” Speed Darlington said.

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, DSVA, responded to the claim, describing it as disturbing.

But the agency said it cannot act on the confession by the Darlington because he committed the crime outside its jurisdiction.

The DSVA also noted that the matter has been reported to the NAPTIP, stating that their authority is limited to matters in Lagos State.

“The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency is aware of the disturbing video currently circulating online, in which a popular entertainer allegedly admits to engaging in unlawful sexual activity with a minor. While the individual in question did not specify the location of the incident during the Instagram Live session, we must clarify that the DSVA’s jurisdiction is limited to Lagos State. In view of the above, and in line with our commitment to justice, we have escalated the situation to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons,” the statement read.

The DSVA also advised the general public to report cases of domestic and sexual violence to the body, while thanking the persons involved in reporting the case.

“Lastly, we appreciate the vigilance of citizens who brought this to our attention and urge the public to continue reporting such cases through the appropriate legal channels,” the statement read.
