The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has confirmed the arrest of a man identified as Obi Levi Obieze, also known as Levi Obu Onyeka.

He is wanted by the Enugu State Police Command for his alleged involvement in abduction, kidnapping, and ritual killings.

In a statement issued by the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, the Comptroller General of the NIS, KN Nandap, stated that Obieze, a native of Umuojor village in the Isiagu Community of Enugu State and reportedly a native doctor, was intercepted by officers of the Lagos State Border Patrol Command at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme Road while attempting to escape the country on a motorcycle.

According to reports, the suspect was alleged to have played a key role in the abduction of a 13-year-old girl on 27th May 2025.

The incident occurred while the girl was walking to the farm with her father. She was reportedly kidnapped by three men and later rescued by police operatives from a shrine believed to be associated with Obieze.

“Obieze was apprehended following credible intelligence,” the statement read.

“His identity was confirmed through a National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) enrolment slip found in his possession, and he has admitted to the allegations during preliminary interrogation,” it added.

The NIS is currently coordinating with the Nigeria Police Force to facilitate the suspect’s handover and further investigation.

The Comptroller General reiterated the service’s dedication to securing Nigeria’s borders and ensuring that criminals have no escape route.
