Renowned Nigerian gospel singer Bolaji Olanrewaju, popularly known as Big Bolaji, was laid to rest in Ibadan, Oyo State, days after his death on April 19 following a brief illness.
He was 50 years old.
The final rites began on Wednesday with a funeral service and lying-in-state held at the Hall of Grace, Jogor Centre, Ibadan.
The solemn ceremony brought together family members, friends, fans, and fellow gospel artists who came to honour the singer’s life and legacy.
Notable figures such as Tosin Bee, Mike Abdul, Prophetess Esther Ajayi, Bukola Bekes, Bidemi Olaoba, Yetunde Are, and comedian Woli Agba were among those in attendance. Emotional scenes played out as pallbearers carried Bolaji’s flower-adorned casket into the venue while mourners observed a moment of silence.
Following the service, Big Bolaji was buried at All Souls Private Cemetery in Ido, Ibadan. His wife, siblings, and loved ones watched in quiet reflection as the respected gospel minister was laid to rest.
