Fraudster Idris Adamu surrenders to EFCC

A mild drama unfolded at the Gombe Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday, June 2, 2025, when a middle-aged man voluntarily walked into the premises and confessed to crimes of impersonation and obtaining money under false pretence.

The man, identified as Idris Adamu, arrived at the EFCC office around 1:00 p.m. and requested to speak with the Acting Zonal Director, Deputy Commander of the EFCC, DCE Sa’ad Hanafi Sa’ad.

He stated that he wished to come clean about crimes he had committed in the past.

While in the director’s office, he said, “I came to repent of my sins and to confess to the EFCC . In the past , I have obtained the aggregate sum of N9m through my bank account from different individuals in the guise of offering them employment opportunities in Federal Government agencies which was false. I have changed but I am afraid of the EFCC.”

After hearing his confession, DCE Sa’ad thanked him for coming forward and ordered that he be transferred to the investigation department for further inquiry.
