The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said there would be ‘terrifying’, outcome for Nigeria if those praying for the country decided to stop for just one week.

Pastor Adeboye said this during his sermon on Sunday at the the RCCG national headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos. Adeboye

The service was devoted to offering of special prayers for security and paramilitary personnel

The RCCG General Overseer dismissed claims that prayers and fasting by the Church has not had any effect on the nation.

He added that contrary to the claims of such critics, the prayers and fasting by the church have helped to present the country from sliding into bigger problems.

Pastor Adeboye said, “Some say, ‘You’ve been praying and fasting — where is the result?’ I laugh. If we had not prayed, Nigeria would have been in a far worse state. Let’s not stop.

“There is a God who rules in the affairs of men. If those praying would pause for just one week, the difference would be terrifying. Keep praying. God controls the hearts of kings.”

Adeboye who preached on the topic “Shadow of the Almighty,” also cited instances that indicated that the RCCG operates under supernatural that preserved the church from calamities.

According to him, there is something peculiar about there is an unseen, but undeniably present shield over the RCCG.”

To back up his claim, Adeboye recalled how a building in the United States, which hosts an RCCG house fellowship, was pared in a row of 15 houses during a devastating flood.

“House after house was flooded, but house number eight — the only one with a sign that read, ‘House Fellowship of RCCG holds here’ — remained untouched,” he said.

Also, he gave an example of fire incident in March at Otedola Bridge, Lagos, where many buildings s were burnt, but the one belonging to the church was spared. “The buildings before and after were consumed, yet the RCCG building was left standing. That is not a coincidence — that is divine covering,” Adeboye said as the church’s media team projected the image during his sermon.

Pastor Adeboye therefore emphasised that God’s protective is powerful and always available to those who abide in Him. “Your security is only assured in Him. Whether in peace or war, young or old, the Almighty casts a shadow of protection over His own,” he declared.

Pastor Folu Adeboye, the wife of the General Overseer also led a passionate session of prayer for the peace and progress of Nigeria and those in leadership during the service.
