In a major stride towards the full digitalisation of its public procurement process, the Lagos State Government has integrated 10 additional Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) into its e-procurement platform, bringing the total number of onboarded MDAs to 169.
The announcement was made by the Director-General of the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency (PPA), Mr. Fatai Idowu Onafowote, during the opening of a four-day training session tailored for procurement officers from the newly onboarded MDAs, as well as newly employed officers across the state.
Mr. Onafowote explained that the training aims to equip officers with the technical skills required to efficiently operate the state’s digital procurement system.
He emphasised that as Lagos approaches a fully digital procurement era, manual processes are becoming obsolete.
“This programme has been carefully structured to empower participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the e-procurement platform effectively,” Onafowote said.
He encouraged attendees to maximise the opportunity for both professional growth and personal development, noting that digital competencies are now essential within the state’s public service.
He also highlighted the continued investment by the Sanwo-Olu administration in digital infrastructure and automation, urging procurement officers to remain proactive, self-driven, and committed to lifelong learning.
The Director-General expressed appreciation to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his unwavering support of the agency’s digital transformation agenda, crediting the progress made so far to the governor’s leadership.
He also acknowledged the contribution of Kehinde Kassim and Associates, the agency’s consultants on change management, for their role in advancing the digitalisation initiative.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Akintunde Subair, Director of the Procurement Department at the Agency, assured participants that the intensive training would deepen their understanding of the e-procurement system and enhance their capacity to deliver efficient procurement services.
