Flamboyant UK-based Nigerian pastor, Tobi Adegboyega, has revealed that he survived cancer and announced a generous donation of £100,000 to support cancer awareness and treatment, especially for young patients.
The pastor made the disclosure during a pre-recorded sermon aired to his congregation on Thursday.
In the emotional message, Adegboyega shared his battle with cancer, saying, “I was diagnosed with cancer. Yes, you heard me right. I’ve been dealing with cancer for the past few months or even more. I just had a major surgery, that’s why I am not there today.”
He added, “I have just fought the battle and I feel the verdict to continue to live was given to me by God for a new level, for a new stage.”
Adegboyega’s announcement of the £100,000 donation aims to increase efforts in cancer awareness and improve treatment options, focusing particularly on young patients who are battling the disease.
Known for his unconventional ministry style and outreach to troubled youths, Adegboyega has attracted criticism and admiration. His lavish lifestyle, which often features designer suits, luxury cars, and celebrity friendships, has been a subject of public fascination.
In 2022, his church, SPAC Nation, faced significant scrutiny from UK authorities and was officially shut down following allegations of financial irregularities. A UK High Court investigation revealed that the organisation failed to account for over £1.87 million in expenses, leading to its dissolution.
