Death on the hghway: Nine Killed in Jigawa road accident

Nine people lost their lives in a tragic road accident that occurred on Saturday in Kyaramma village, Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The accident involved two Golf 3 saloon vehicles that collided head-on, leaving several others injured.

According to the Jigawa State Police Command, the vehicles involved were Kaduna MKA 687 AY, driven by Adamu Sunusi, 35, from Hadejia LGA, heading to Gujungu town from Abuja, and KWL 606 KA, driven by Bashari Danjummai, 30, from Sauna Area, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State, heading to Kano from Hadejia.

The police stated that upon receiving the report, Motor Traffic Department personnel rushed to the scene and provided assistance. The injured victims were rushed to Ringim General Hospital for treatment.

A post-mortem examination revealed that nine passengers, including the two drivers, were pronounced dead. Eleven passengers are currently receiving treatment at the hospital and are responding well.

The Jigawa State Police Command assured the public that further updates would be provided as the investigation progresses. The police are working to identify all victims and notify their families.

State Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Abdullahi, expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery. He urged drivers to adhere to traffic rules and regulations, avoid speeding, and ensure the roadworthiness of their vehicles to prevent such tragic incidents.
