Former Military Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd.), has extended his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Niger State, following the recent flood disaster that struck Mokwa Local Government Area.

Babangida conveyed his sympathy on Friday during a Sallah homage by a state government delegation led by Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba at his residence in Minna.

According to a statement by Mr. Bologi Ibrahim, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Umar Mohammed Bago, the former leader described the incident as tragic but urged the affected communities to find solace in the will of Allah.

He also encouraged residents to continue praying for the repose of the souls lost in the disaster.

Babangida commended Governor Bago for the developmental progress recorded under his administration and called for continued commitment to the state’s growth.

In his remarks, Deputy Governor Garba said the visit was aimed at seeking the elder statesman’s blessings and counsel.

He thanked Babangida for his consistent fatherly role and noted that both Niger residents and Nigerians at large remain grateful for his patriotic service to the nation.
