Manchester United have shifted their transfer focus to Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen in a renewed effort to solve the club’s long-standing striker problems, PM News has learnt.

Sources confirmed that Osimhen recently rejected a highly lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, opting instead to continue his career in Europe.

The decision is widely interpreted as a clear message from the Napoli forward that he wants to remain at the highest level of European football.

United’s interest in Osimhen comes at a crucial time. Following their loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final, the Red Devils failed to secure Champions League qualification, complicating their summer transfer plans. Without the lure of elite European competition, the club is now relying on its legacy and project appeal to attract top talent.

Despite these challenges, United have managed to complete the signing of Matheus Cunha and are in talks with Bryan Mbeumo, who is reportedly open to a move to Old Trafford.

However, securing a world-class centre-forward remains a top priority. With a global shortage of top-level No. 9s, finding a reliable goal scorer has proven difficult for major clubs across Europe. United, once known for flexing financial muscle to land proven strikers like Dimitar Berbatov and Robin van Persie, now find themselves needing to act swiftly and strategically.

Football insiders, including journalists Ben Jacobs and Fabrizio Romano, reported on Sunday that despite a £63 million agreement between Napoli and Al Hilal, Osimhen refused to accept personal terms with the Saudi club. His decision to turn down the big-money move signals his commitment to remain competitive in Europe.

Galatasaray, where Osimhen has spent time on loan, have also been pushing to make his stay permanent. However, that deal has yet to materialize, further indicating the striker’s ambition to join a club capable of challenging at the top of European football.

With Osimhen effectively signalling his availability, Manchester United may now have the clearest opportunity yet to make their move.
