Some prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State on Monday, announced their defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defectors led by Hakeem Amode, the Lagos PDP Publicity Secretary, cited the PDP’s decline and loss of direction as the reason for their move.
The group said that the PDP had deviated from its founding ideals. They also said it had been plagued by internal crises and disunity.
“We have lost faith in the PDP’s ability to recover from its current state of decline,” Amode said.
“The party has lost its way, and its future is riddled with tension and uncertainty.”
The group of defectors said it believed in the leadership of Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, also known as JANDOR.
They expressed their commitment to working with the APC to deliver the true dividends of democracy to the people of Lagos State.
The development is a significant blow to the PDP in Lagos State, and it remains to be seen how the party will respond to the loss of these prominent members.
