A Metropolitan Police sergeant has been sacked without notice after a misconduct panel found he carried out a disturbing campaign of coercive control, harassment, and physical abuse against his former partner.
Sergeant Chris Allonby, formerly attached to the Met’s South West Command Unit, was dismissed following a disciplinary hearing that concluded on Tuesday, 10 June.
According to the Met Police, the panel heard that Allonby assaulted his ex-partner on multiple occasions—in 2018, 2019, and 2021—while off duty.
His behaviour, which included emotional and verbal abuse, was described as a pattern of unwanted and intimidating conduct.
Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah, who led policing in the area, condemned Allonby’s actions, saying: “Sgt Chris Allonby exhibited consistently unacceptable and wholly inappropriate behaviour.
“It is right he faced disciplinary action and is no longer a part of the Metropolitan Police Service. We commend the bravery of his ex-partner, who spoke up and enabled us to take action.”
The misconduct panel ruled that Allonby had grossly violated standards of authority, respect, courtesy, and professional conduct.
The Met said his name would now be added to the College of Policing’s barred list, permanently banning him from serving in any police force, policing body, or oversight agency.
