June 12: What Tinubu will say to National Assembly

Rather than address the country in a national broadcast on June 12 as Nigerian presidents normally do, President Bola Tinubu has elected to reach out to Nigerians by  speaking to a joint session of the National Assembly.

The change in plans was announced on Wednesday  by the Director of Information and Public Relations in the office of the SGF, Segun Imohiosen.

His statement had read: “Due to H.E. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR’s scheduled attendance at the National Assembly Joint Session, the Presidential National Broadcast on June 12 has been cancelled,” the statement read.

But Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President, Information and Strategy, shed light on what Tinbu will say to the lawmakers.

He wrote on his Facebook page” “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will address a joint session of the National Assembly on Thursday, Democracy Day. In his speech, he will dwell on the nation’s democratic journey since 1993, celebrate the heroes and heroines of the democratic struggle, and speak on his plans to build a prosperous country that will benefit all Nigerians.”
