The Nigeria Police Force has announced an extension of the grace period for the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement, pushing the deadline to 12th August 2025.

This decision follows widespread public concern over the recently reactivated digital permit application process.

Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, approved the extension as part of a broader review aimed at ensuring the process remains “user-friendly, secure, and accessible to all.”

“In line with our commitment to delivering transparent, inclusive, and citizen-focused policing, the Force wishes to affirm that it has not ignored the voices of Nigerians,” the NPF said in a statement released on 14th June, 2025 by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

“Rather, these voices have been instrumental in guiding ongoing reviews of the process.”

The Police noted that the extension will allow time for further refinements to the permit system, aimed at avoiding undue hardship for applicants.

“The extension of enforcement is also intended to give room for additional enhancements and refinements to the application process, ensuring that no member of the public is unduly disadvantaged,” the statement read.

The Force reiterated its commitment to streamlining both physical and digital options for the permit, including enhanced verification mechanisms and simplified procedures designed to eliminate unnecessary delays and frustrations.

“Citizens are reminded that http://possap.gov.ng remains the only authorised platform for applying for or renewing the permit. The public is also urged to report any unauthorised charges or extortion during the application or biometric capturing process via the dedicated hotline: 09169967000,” the police said.

Reaffirming its stance, the Police stated: “The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to public safety, digital innovation, and continuous improvement in service delivery, and appreciates the cooperation and patience of the Nigerian people as these reforms are carried out.”
