The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has o approved an extension of the deadline for the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement, moving the new enforcement date to August 12, 2025, PM News has learnt.

This move is targeted at addressing widespread concerns raised by members of the public over the reactivation of the digital application process for the permit.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, via a statement released on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), noted that the decision to extend the grace period demonstrates the Force’s commitment to transparent, inclusive, and citizen-friendly policing.

He said the  NPF values the voices of Nigerians and has listened attentively to their feedback regarding the challenges and limitations of the current application process.

According to ACP Adejobi, “These voices have been instrumental in guiding ongoing reviews of the process to ensure that it remains user-friendly, secure, and accessible to every law-abiding citizen.

The extension is not just a delay in enforcement—it is an opportunity to enhance and refine the entire application process so that no member of the public is unduly inconvenienced or disadvantaged.”

Continuing he said the Nigeria Police is actively working on simplifying both physical and online application procedures.

The goal, he said, is to introduce more efficient verification mechanisms, reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, and eliminate unnecessary delays that often discourage applicants.

In line with these improvements, the NPF is also committed to combating corruption, extortion, and the imposition of hidden or unauthorized charges during the application and biometric capturing stages.

He stressed that the only  approved platform for applying for and renewing the Tinted Glass Permit is via the official Police portal: www.possap.gov.ng.

ACP Adejobi urged the public  to avoid using unofficial channels or paying extra fees outside what is stipulated on the platform.

To strengthen public confidence and ensure accountability, the Police Force has provided a dedicated hotline—09169967000—for the reporting of any unethical practices or misconduct by officers or agents involved in the permit process. Citizens are encouraged to use the hotline to report any form of extortion, undue delay, or service irregularities.

ACP Adejobi reiterated  the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to public safety, digital transformation, and continuous service improvement.

He also appreciated Nigerians for their patience and cooperation, assuring that the ongoing reforms are intended to build a more efficient, responsive, and modern police system that meets the expectations of a digital age.
