The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the upcoming Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) U-18/U-20 Championships in Abeokuta has announced sub-committees to ensure seamless execution of the event, scheduled for July 16–20.

Headed by Hon. Bukola Olopade, also Director General of the National Sports Commission, the LOC pledged a world-class event despite the tight timeline.

“We’re committed to delivering a hitch-free championship Nigerians and Africans will be proud of,” Olopade said.

Notable sub-committees include:

  • Technical – chaired by Olympian Enefiok Udo-Obong

  • Security – led by Olympian Fidelis Gadzama

  • Media/Publicity – chaired by Gowon Akpodonor

  • Accommodation – headed by Musa Amadu

  • Marketing/Branding – led by Chichi Nwoko

  • Ceremonial/Entertainment – chaired by Rosa Collins

  • Transport, Protocol, Medical, Finance, Anti-Doping, Feeding, Volunteers, Liaison, and Accreditation committees were also unveiled, comprising top professionals and state representatives.

The LOC says these teams have already commenced work to deliver a safe, efficient, and memorable continental athletics event in Ogun State.
