The Anambra State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspects, Charles Nnanna and Chukwunonso Okoye, who allegedly defrauded a victim of two truckloads of cement worth N17 million.

According to the command’s Spokesman,  Tochukwu Ikenga, the incident occurred on May 17, and the police received a complaint from the victim, who had been in communication with one Edwin Emeka online. After supplying the cement, all attempts to get in touch with Edwin proved abortive, prompting the police to trace the goods to different shops in the state.

The police operatives attached to the 3-3 police station were able to recover the goods and arrest the two suspects. They are currently undergoing interrogations to provide more information on how to arrest Edwin and other syndicate members.

The police PRO emphasized the importance of vigilance, especially for those who engage in online business transactions or personal engagements, to prevent harm or loss of life and property. He assured that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigations.

The case highlights the need for caution when dealing with online transactions and the police’s commitment to tackling online fraud and other forms of cybercrime in the state.
