Reactions as Erigga makes controversial claim

Nigerian rapper Erigga has made a statement about celebrities claiming that they are not true icons.

Taking to his X handle on Saturday, the rapper explained his opinion, stating that celebrities are an illusion created by the industry.

“Celebrities were never icons… it was an illusion.When you see talented singers everywhere, you notice they weren’t that rare, just the ones the music industry could manipulate,” Erigga wrote.

His opinion has sparked reactions from users with some of them agreeing with his statement.

One user @Alexander stated that the system was created purposefully.

“The system was designed to make a few look like gods so the many would remain as fans.But not anymore. Now the power is shifting the audience decide more than ever.that is a good thing,” he wrote.

Another user touchkeys replied

“Now that talent is everywhere, you realize the myth wasn’t about rarity. It was about visibility. Fame was curated, but impact? that part was real,” he wrote.
