Jos man jailed 6 months for swindling businessman of N230K

An Area Court in Jos on Monday sentenced one Suleiman Ibrahim, to six months imprisonment for swindling a businessman of the sum of N230, 000

According to the police prosecutor, Insp Ijuptil Thlawur, the case was reported at the ā€˜C’ Division police station, Jos on March 4, by one Mr Kamal Musa, the complainant.

He said that the complainant gave the convict the sum of N230, 000 for the construction of a grinding machine, adding that rather than utilise the money for the purpose it was meant for, the convict diverted it.

The prosecutor said that during police investigation the convict confessed to have converted the amount to his personal use and failed to construct the grinding machine.

The offence, he said, contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria of 2017.

The judge, Mrs Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to criminal of breach of trust and begged the court for leniency.

The judge however gave the convict an option of fine of N30, 000.
