Ahead of the 2027  general elections in Nigeria, campaign posters bearing the image of Oyo State Governor, Engineer Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde, have emerged in various parts of Jigawa State, sparking widespread speculation about his potential bid for the presidency in 2027.

The posters, clearly marked with the logo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), were prominently displayed in key locations within the state capital, Dutse.

Slogans such as “To Move Nigeria Forward 2027: His Excellency Engineer Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde for President” and “2027: Seyi Makinde Is the Answer” featured boldly on the materials.

Notable areas where the posters were sighted include Unity Pentagon, Police Headquarters Roundabout, Mai Kwarin Roundabout, Obasanjo Road, Muhammadu Buhari Street, Abdulsalami Abubakar Street, and Abdullahi Mai Kano Road.

Speaking with journalists in Dutse, the National Secretary of the Nigeria Youths Awareness Group for Makinde 2027 (NYAG Makinde 2027), Alhaji Lawal Abdullahi, confirmed the posters are part of a broader mobilisation campaign.

“We’ve come together as various groups with one goal — to rally support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s presidential ambition. We are already engaging political stakeholders across the country,” Abdullahi stated.

He disclosed that plans are underway to broaden the campaign’s reach beyond Jigawa.

“Starting next week, we will begin distributing posters and campaign materials in other northern states like Kano, Bauchi, Katsina, Borno, Yobe, and Gombe,” he said.

Abdullahi added that there is also a structured plan to extend the campaign to southern states, in a phased strategy aimed at gaining national traction ahead of the 2027 elections.
