Liverpool Football Club is reportedly preparing a big move to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli. The plan includes offering two players Darwin Nunez in the swap deal.
Another Liverpool player, Federico Chiesa is also wanted at Napoli.
The club’s new manager, Arne Slot, is eager to strengthen the team’s attack before the new season begins. With Mohamed Salah still the main goal-scorer, Liverpool wants to reduce the pressure on him, especially since Nunez had a poor season with just seven goals in all competitions.
Reports say Liverpool hopes to use Napoli and AC Milan’s interest in Nunez to help secure Osimhen. The Nigerian striker impressed many last season while on loan at Galatasaray, scoring 37 goals.
Nunez has struggled since joining Liverpool from Benfica in 2022. Chiesa, who moved from Juventus last summer, also had a difficult season due to injury problems and only made one start in the Premier League.
After winning their 20th league title, Liverpool is focused on improving the squad further. They have already signed Jeremie Frimpong and are working on deals for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz and Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.
