New revelations have energed in the ongoing coroner’s inquest into the death of Miss Desola Whitney Adeniran, a 12-year-old student of Chrisland Schools, with a government pathologist confirming that her death was caused by electrocution.

At Friday’s resumed hearing at the Ikeja Magistrate Court, under Suit No. MCIK/CONA/1/2023, Dr. Sanni Ayodele Daniel, a certified government pathologist, testified that an extensive autopsy ruled out any pre-existing medical conditions or reactions to drugs.

He stated firmly that the cause of death was asphyxia resulting from electrocution.

Continuing, Dr. Daniel explained that the post-mortem revealed several physiological signs consistent with electrical shock, including cerebral swelling, hemorrhages beneath the pleura in the brain, electric burn on the right knee, shock indicators in the kidneys, fluid blood consistency, conjunctival bleeding in both eyes, and a grazed abrasion on the right forearm.

These symptoms, he said, were clear indicators of electrocution, leading to respiratory failure and ultimately, Whitney’s death.

Legal practitioners present included Oluwatodimu Ige, Esq., representing the deceased’s family, as well as Obiechina Justin, Esq., and Oluwabusayomi Gbadegesin, Esq.
