Ayra Starr breaks into Hollywood with A-list stars

Award-winning Nigerian music star Ayra Starr is making her big-screen debut in the Hollywood adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone, the critically acclaimed fantasy novel by Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi.

The Rush crooner will join a stellar cast featuring Oscar nominees and Hollywood heavyweights including Cynthia Erivo, Viola Davis, and Idris Elba.

In an exclusive interview with CBS Mornings, Ayra Starr revealed the transition from music to acting has been both challenging and eye-opening.

“My first movie ever. I’m used to being a singer and being a diva on set, but with this one — in a movie — it’s not about you. You have to be on set on time,” she said, reflecting on the new level of discipline required on a film set.

Children of Blood and Bone, the first in a fantasy trilogy inspired by West African mythology, follows the journey of a young girl fighting to restore magic to her homeland.
