Quick Read

Kebbi State Government wished all Muslims in the state and across Nigeria a blessed and prosperous Islamic New Year, praying for peace, progress, and continued divine guidance for the state and the nation

The Kebbi State Government has officially declared Friday, June 27, 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate the beginning of the new Islamic calendar year, 1447 After Hijrah (AH).

This announcement was made in a press statement released on Thursday by Malami A. Maiyama, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Establishment, Pension, and Training. According to the statement, the holiday is aimed at giving the Muslim faithful, particularly government employees and public servants, an opportunity to observe and reflect on the significance of the new Islamic year.

The Islamic New Year, also known as the Hijri New Year, marks the migration of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from Mecca to Medina. It is a moment of spiritual renewal, prayer, and gratitude for many Muslims around the world.

The state government encouraged all citizens to use the day for peaceful religious observance, community reflection, and renewed commitment to moral and spiritual values. It also called on Islamic leaders and scholars to use the occasion to preach peace, unity, and tolerance among the people.

All ministries, departments, agencies, schools, and private institutions operating within the state have been advised to comply with the directive. Residents were reminded to respect the holiday and celebrate responsibly.

Normal official and business activities are expected to resume on Monday, June 30, 2025.
