The Police in Lagos on Friday arraigned a 44-year-old man, Charles Ogunyinka, before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly touching his 3-year-old daughter’s private part indecently.

Ogunyinka, a civil servant, who resides at Abaranje, Ikotun, Lagos, was charged for indecent touching of a minor.

The Prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the offence was committed in Jan. 2025 at the defendants resident.

Ademigbuji said that the defendant’s wife left their daughter with him and went out, and on her return, she met the victim crying.

The prosecutor said that upon enquiry, the victim pointed to her private part and mentioned her father.

According to him, the offence contravened Section 263 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

Ogunyinka, however, pleaded not guilty to the one count charge.

The Chief Magistrates, Mrs O. O Kushanu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Kushanu adjourned the case until Sept. 11 for mention.
