Paul Onuachu seals permanent move to Trabzonspor

Super Eagles striker, Paul Onuachu, has joined Turkish club, Trabzonspor, on a permanent deal from Southampton.

The English club confirmed the transfer in a statement released on Friday.

“Southampton Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed with Trabzonspor for the transfer of striker Paul Onuachu,” the statement read.

Onuachu, 31, spent last season on loan at Trabzonspor, where he scored 15 goals in 21 matches. His impressive form has now earned him a full-time move.

The towering forward joined Southampton in early 2023 and made 40 appearances, scoring four goals for the club.

“Southampton thanks Paul for his efforts and wishes him the best in the next chapter of his career,” the club added.

Southampton were relegated from the Premier League and will compete in the Championship next season.

Onuachu has represented Nigeria 24 times, scoring three goals. He was part of the Super Eagles squad that finished as runners-up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
