Arrangements are ongoing to bury the prominent Kano businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, in Madina, Saudi Arabia, in accordance with his final wish to be buried beside his late wife.
While the arrangement is still awaiting approval from Saudi authorities to move the corpse from Abu Dhabi to Madinah, a funeral prayer was held in absentia at the Umar Bin Khattab Mosque in Kano.
The funeral prayer was led by the Chairman of the Kano Council of Ulama, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, alongside the Commandant General of the Kano Hisbah Board, Sheikh Ibrahim Daurawa.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, members of the Kano State Executive Council, and notable figures from the business community.
Alhaji Dantata passed away at the age of 94 in the early hours of Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Family sources confirmed that his long-term wish was to be laid to rest in the Holy Prophet’s city of Madinah.
However, if approval from Saudi authorities is prolonged, the corpse will be brought back to Kano for burial.
