Rivers Crisis: Fubara meets Wike in public again amid peace process

Quick Read

Their appearance together followed Thursday’s peace meeting arranged by President Bola Tinubu, who called for an end to their crisis.

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, former Governor and now FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and the suspended Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, were seen together in public just two days after their peace talks at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

They attended a funeral service in Rumueprikom, Wike’s hometown in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

For almost two years, these three top political leaders in Rivers State have been involved in a major political crisis.

Their appearance together followed Thursday’s peace meeting arranged by President Bola Tinubu, who called for an end to their crisis.

Also at the funeral were politicians such as Senator Allwell Onyesoh, Senator George Thompson Sekibo, Senator Olaka Nwogu, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche, former House of Representatives Member Hon. Ken Chikere, South-South Vice Chairman of the APC Victor Giadom, and former PDP Deputy National Chairman Dr. Sam Sam Jaja.

Meanwhile, Governor Fubara is expected to meet privately with his supporters today to inform them about what was discussed with President Tinubu and Wike in Abuja.
