UK-based Nigerian Afrobeats artist AM VBYZ is emerging as a compelling new voice in the diaspora music scene, blending cultural authenticity with emotional depth as he carves out his artistic identity.
Born in Nigeria and now based in the United Kingdom, AM VBYZ describes music as more than just sound but as “a feeling.” Raised around rhythm, storytelling, and expressive emotion, he says music became a refuge where he could communicate thoughts that words alone could not fully capture.
“What inspired me to pursue it seriously was realising I could create something from my own mind that could move people, uplift them, or make them feel understood,” he shares. “That creative freedom is what pulled me in.”
That sense of vulnerability and purpose defined the release of his debut single, “OH NO,” which dropped on June 27, 2025. The track marked a deeply personal milestone for the artist. Rather than chasing trends or commercial polish, AM VBYZ focused on honesty and feeling.
“The creative process was organic no pressure, just honesty,” he explains. “Sharing it felt like letting people step into my inner world for the first time.”
The response to “OH NO” affirmed his belief in authenticity over hype. As the Afrobeats genre continues to expand globally, AM VBYZ represents a growing wave of diaspora artists who are not only exporting sound but also exporting emotion and narrative.
With his calm presence and introspective tone, he stands apart in an increasingly loud and fast-paced industry choosing intention over impulse and meaning over momentary buzz.
