The meeting took place at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel. Although the agenda was not made public, it happened just a day after the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) endorsed the return of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the party’s national secretary.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President David Mark, and former Jigawa State governor Sule Lamido met behind closed doors with other Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders in Abuja on Tuesday evening.

The meeting took place at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel. Although the agenda was not made public, it happened just a day after the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) endorsed the return of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the party’s national secretary.

There are suggestions that the meeting could be linked to ongoing talks about forming a coalition to contest the 2027 general election against President Bola Tinubu.

Other top PDP members at the meeting included former party chairman Prince Uche Secondus, former governors Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, Liyel Imoke of Cross River, Babangida Aliyu of Niger, Sam Egwu of Ebonyi, and Chief Tom Ikimi.

It is also being speculated that David Mark might become the acting national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which is being considered as a possible coalition platform.

Also present at the meeting were former National Organising Secretary Senator Austin Akobundu, former acting national secretary Senator Ben Obi, former National Women Leader Josephine Anenih, former National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan, and former National Youth Leader Abdullahi Maibasira, among others.
