“I don’t owe Annie any explanation,” 2Face breaks silence

Veteran Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face, has publicly addressed the controversy surrounding his split from his longtime partner and wife, Annie Idibia.

In an interview on the 234 Mzansi Podcast, the music icon stated that he does not owe anyone an explanation regarding his personal life — not even Annie.

According to him, the only people he feels accountable to are his children.

“My kids are the only people I owe an explanation,” 2Face asserted during the interview.

The statement comes months after the singer announced his separation from Annie in a surprising Instagram post on January 26, 2025.

The announcement triggered public reactions, especially after 2Face was seen openly with his new lover, Natasha Osawuru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly.

Explaining the reasons behind the split, 2Face maintained that his marriage with Annie “just wasn’t working anymore,” despite their efforts to make it work. He described Annie as “an amazing person” and acknowledged that they “had a good run.”

“We did our best,” he said, “but it wasn’t enough.”

2Face and Annie married in May 2012 and have two daughters together, Isabella and Olivia.
