Nigerian pop sensation Ayra Starr has made history by becoming the first African female artiste to reach 5 million followers on global streaming platform, Spotify.
The feat places her in a class of her own, showing her meteoric rise in the music industry.
Known for her chart-topping single “Rush,” Ayra Starr’s influence continues to grow, both locally and internationally.
While she now holds the crown as the most-followed African female artist on Spotify, she still trails Grammy-winning artist Tems in total streams. Ayra boasts 2.7 billion streams across all her credits, compared to Tems’ 3.8 billion.
Her holiday hit “Santa” leads her Spotify catalogue with an impressive 707 million streams, followed by her breakthrough track “Rush,” which currently stands at over 474 million streams.
The milestone comes after a string of achievements for the Mavin Records star, including a win at the 2025 BET Awards and becoming the first Nigerian female singer to surpass 1 billion views on YouTube.
