Kanu’s case will decide APC’s future in South East – Youth Forum

Over 300 youths from different states in the South East later held a peaceful march in Umuahia, singing songs in support of Kanu.
President Bola Tinubu and his party, the All Progressive Congress, APC, have been told not to expect votes from the Igbo people in 2027 if they do not release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who is currently in detention.
The All Igbo Youth Forum said this during a press conference in Umuahia, Abia State, as they celebrated Kanu’s recent court victory in Kenya.
The president-general of the forum, Chinedum Obilor, said the release of Kanu will determine if the youths will support Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 election. He explained that despite what Igbo politicians say, it is the youths who will decide how the region votes, not the political leaders.
Obilor, who was once the deputy chairman of Umuahia North Local Government, advised Tinubu not to be deceived by endorsements from Igbo politicians.
He said, “Our governors and lawmakers are deceiving you. They say they control Igbo land, but it is the youths who are really in charge.”

Last week, a court in Nairobi, Kenya, ruled that Kanu’s arrest and transfer to Nigeria were illegal.
