Burna Boy turns 34: Star-studded bash, new album tracklist and a fatherhood confession!
Nigerian superstar, Burna Boy has celebrated his 34th birthday on Wednesday and the party was simply legendary.
The Grammy-winning superstar had his loved ones, celebrity friends, music royalty, and some surprise visitors to join him in celebration at his birthday party in Lagos.
The party was filled with good vibes, excellent dining, and electrifying performances. Videos making rounds online show Burna Boy in festive mood as he was accompanied by heavyweights such as Phyno, Verydarkman, Jowizazaa, and some of his close industry mates who took time off their schedules to come out and party with the hitmaker.
That was not all, though.
One of the biggest surprises of the evening was a live stage performance by Fuji legend Adewale Ayuba, who treated the celebrant to throwbacks that had the crowd on their feet dancing, alongside the birthday boy, who was clearly thrilled by his appearance.
Earlier, Burna Boy shocked fans with a birthday present — the official tracklist for his new album, No Sign of Weakness.
The 16-track record boasts world music legends Travis Scott, Mick Jagger, Stromae, and Shaboozey, with fans waiting till its release date, July 11.
The Recording Academy (Grammys) joined in the fun too, posting on X (formerly Twitter):
“Happy Birthday to the Nigerian superstar, @burnaboy! Since releasing his first mixtape, ‘Burn Notice,’ in 2011, Burna Boy has taken the world by storm with his soulful vocals, genre-bending style, and endless charisma. In 2021, his album ‘Twice As Tall’ took home the GRAMMY for Best World Music Album, marking a historic achievement for the Nigerian artist.” “Celebrate the artistry and impact of Burna Boy by sharing your favorite moment, lyric, or quote in the comments.”
Burna Boy: “I think it’s time to have a child… ”
In a softer, cozier moment than most were expecting, Burna Boy, in a brief address at the party, made the following announcement:
“I’m 34. I think it’s time to have a child.”
The announcement has stirred cheers and comments from friends, who saw it as a hint that the so-called African Giant might be readied to start a new chapter in life. Whether that was a marketing spin or an honest announcement, one thing is certain — Burna Boy is not just changing musically but also as an individual.
