The Adamawa state police command has confirmed the violence outbreak in two border communities in the state.

The attack which reportedly occured in Lafiya and Boshikiri villages located in Lamurde and Guyuk local government areas occured on Wednesday.

The police command on Thursday released a statement to condemn the incident which has now become an annual occurence in Adamawa.

The police described the incidents as ‘mischief by fire’.

Sulaiman Nguroje, the command’s spokesperson, in his statement reported that properties and buildings were destroyed in the fire attack.

“Properties belonging to Mrs. Ododumga Kenneth and Mr. Nura Haruna were destroyed in the attacks,” he said.

Dankombo Morris, the commissioner of police also ordered that an investigation be carried out in order to arrest the perpetrators of such violence.

The CP announced that anyone found fueling the violence will be dealt with according to the law.

The police command also assured residents of their safety while asking them to remain calm and cooperate with the police.
