The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled a beautiful new trophy for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The ceremony took place on Wednesday in Rabat, the capital city of Morocco.
CAF organised this special event to show its commitment to improving and promoting women’s football across Africa. The new trophy is part of their plan to make the competition more attractive and to encourage more girls to play football.
Officials and representatives from the 12 countries that will compete in this year’s tournament were present at the event. They expressed their excitement and took photos with the trophy, which they will all be fighting to win.
The WAFCON 2024 tournament will begin this Saturday. The opening match will see the host nation, Morocco’s team called the Atlas Lionesses, play against Zambia’s team, the Copper Queens.
