Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, who died on Thursday, had recently shared a post about his wedding with Rute Cardoso. The wedding took place on June 22 in Porto, Portugal.
Jota and his brother, Andre, died in a car accident in Zamora, Spain. Their Lamborghini crashed after a tyre burst while they were overtaking another vehicle, and the car caught fire.
On June 28, Jota posted photos of his wedding on X with the caption: “June 22, 2025. Yes, forever.”
LLiverpool described his death as “devastating.”
Police in Spain have confirmed they are investigating the cause of the crash.
