Confused? El-Rufai shocks Nigerians, now says he loves Peter Obi

Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has left Nigerians confused after declaring his love for Peter Obi, the same man he has openly attacked for years.

In a post on X, Bashir shared a photo of Obi and his father at a political coalition meeting held on Wednesday, July 2. He captioned it: “He don dey mature,” sparking mixed reactions online.

That was only the beginning.

When asked by a follower if he had finally dropped his constant criticism of the former Anambra governor, Bashir replied: “I now love Peter Obi. Sai Peter Obi.”

This sudden change of heart didn’t sit well with many Nigerians, especially considering how Bashir had previously mocked Obi on several occasions and labelled his supporters with all sorts of names.

Now, out of nowhere, he’s hailing Obi like a long-lost political idol.

Reacting to the buzz, Bashir said he has the right to change his mind, just like other political influencers. But many Nigerians aren’t buying it.

Some called it clout-chasing. Others said it’s confusion at its peak.

“He was shouting ‘Obi is unserious’ last year. Now he’s shouting Sai Obi. Which one are we following?” a user fired.

The post has since gone viral, with many dragging Bashir for what they described as “political two-facedness.”
