Nollywood actor Don Richard has opened up about a shocking health scare that struck him two years after he quit smoking and drinking, a period he believed would lead to better health.

In a video circulating online, the actor recounted his experience, revealing how he unexpectedly began to battle serious health complications despite adopting a cleaner lifestyle.

The illness, which came as a surprise, led to his admission to the hospital and a period of deep reflection.

“I had thought stopping smoking and drinking meant I was going to be healthier. But two years later, I found myself very sick,” Don Richard shared.

“It made me realise there are dangers we carry inside that don’t show until it’s too late.”

While undergoing treatment, he said he had eye-opening conversations with doctors who explained that many life-threatening conditions stem from hidden damage to internal organs — particularly the liver, lungs, and kidneys — often going unnoticed until symptoms become severe.

The actor urged Nigerians and fans not to take good health for granted based on outward appearance, stressing the importance of regular checkups.

“You might feel fine, but it doesn’t mean your organs are,” he warned.

“A lot of the deaths we see among celebrities and the general public start from silent internal issues.”
