Tiwa Savage opens on parenting, discipline

Nigerian singer and songwriter Tiwa Savage has opened up on her parenting style and and the importance of discipline on a child.

In an Instagram video, Tiwa recounted an experience with her son Jamal and described herself as a very strict mother.

She spoke on the challenges of parenting and being firm while correcting a child.

Tiwa explained that she had yelled at Jamal the previous night, but to her surprise she woke up and found him snuggled next to her.

“Last night, I was reminded of one of the hardest things about being a mom: you still have to discipline your child and be strict, even when it breaks your heart. I’m a very, very strict mother. Everyone knows this,” she said.

Tiwa also stated that although a mother’s job can be tough, the feeling is the best feeling in the world.

“But last night, I really went off on him. And this is why he melts my heart so much…I woke up and saw that he had quietly come to sleep next to me. I had slept on the couch, and he still came to lie beside me, my baby. I was shouting earlier… ahhh. Yet he still came close, seeking comfort. Being a mother is tough. But it’s also the best feeling in the world,” she said.
