The African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition is gaining momentum as prominent politicians from different parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), are shifting their loyalty to the coalition. Sola Okiki, a former APC member and aide to Rauf Aregbesola, the current interim National Secretary of the ADC coalition, is the latest to join the ADC Lagos coalition.
Okiki’s decision to affiliate with the ADC coalition is particularly significant due to his close relationship with Aregbesola. His choice to follow his superior into the ADC coalition demonstrates his commitment to the party’s principles and goals. During the membership acceptance event at the ADC headquarters, Okiki received his membership card from the ADC Lagos State Working Committee (SWC), alongside other notable politicians who have also joined the coalition.
Among the prominent individuals who joined the ADC coalition is Hon. Rahman Owokoniran, the leader of the Lagos PDP coalition, who brought his team to officially collect their membership cards. Key members of the ADC Lagos State Working Committee, including George Ashiru, the party’s State Chairman; Dr. Mohammad Ogidi, the State Organising Secretary; Chief Ediele, the chief whip; and Mrs. Disu Yetunde, the Vice Chairman for Lagos East, were present at the event to warmly welcome the new members. Additionally, Mabel Oboh, the former ADC national publicity secretary and ADC Edo 2020 governorship candidate, was also present.
In his address upon accepting membership, Okiki conveyed his excitement about joining the ADC coalition and pledged to actively advocate for the party’s agenda. He expressed his admiration for the party’s vision and leadership, believing that it would bring about substantial progress and development in Lagos State.
ADC Chairman George Ashiru welcomed Okiki and the other newcomers to the coalition, highlighting that their decision to join the party reflects its growing strength and appeal. He stressed that the impressive individuals aligning with the ADC Lagos coalition signalled a promising future for advancements in Lagos.
The arrival of new members in the ADC coalition is considered a significant boost for the party’s prospects in Lagos State. With Okiki’s expertise and capabilities, the party is expected to gain greater momentum in the southwestern region, especially in Lagos State, where he operates.
