There is growing panic in Ondo State following the mysterious disappearance of two undergraduates of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA).

The students, Andrel Okah, a 200-level student of History and International Studies, and John Abba, a 200-level Economics student — have not been seen for over two weeks, sparking fears among students and families.

Their colleagues say efforts to reach them through their phone lines have failed, and they haven’t shown up for classes or any campus activities since they vanished.

One student, who gave his name as Ajibola, told reporters:

“We’re all worried. Nobody knows what has happened to them. It’s been more than two weeks now and no word from them. They are close friends. We’ve reported to the school and the police, but nothing serious is happening. We were told to just calm down.”

He added that there are fears of kidnapping, but no ransom demand has been made, leaving many confused.

The university’s spokesperson, Mr. Victor Akinpelumi, was not reachable, but a top management staff who spoke anonymously confirmed the school is aware of the case.

“We have reported the matter to the police. But there are also suspicions, because there are all kinds of things students do off-campus. We’re monitoring the situation closely,” the official said.

Ondo Police Command spokesperson, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the case is under investigation.

As the days pass, tension continues to rise on campus, with students accusing authorities of being too relaxed about the issue.

“We don’t want to hear stories. If something bad has happened, let them tell us. If the police are not doing anything, then we will protest,” another student said.

The development has once again raised questions about student safety, especially in off-campus environments where security is often weak or non-existent.
