The incident occurred around 2am at the chairman’s residence in the Government Reserved Area (GRA) of Jalingo, the state capital.
Saidu told journalists that a gang of eight heavily armed assailants stormed his home carrying four AK-47 rifles, with one of them masked.
According to Saidu, he spotted the attackers through his window as they attempted to breach his premises. He immediately alerted the Divisional Police Officer of the GRA division, prompting a swift response from security personnel.
The suspects reportedly fled before any harm could be done.
Commending the police and vigilante group for their timely intervention, Saidu urged the state Commissioner of Police to bolster security around his residence to prevent future attacks.
Confirming the incident, the Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer, James Lashen, said that although no arrests have been made, an investigation is underway.
He advised residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.
