Osimhen transfer saga: Napoli reject Galatasaray’s fresh €70m bid as negotiations intensify
Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis has turned down a new €70 million bid from Turkish champions Galatasaray for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, PM News can report.
As told by sources who are close to negotiations at the very top, Galatasaray made their move on Wednesday, July 10, officially sending a letter of offer with official bank letters provided to facilitate payment. Istanbul’s team supposedly believed including financial warranties would persuade Napoli’s hardline attitude.
But it did not matter. De Laurentiis was not interested. He demanded at least €75 million assured before even thinking about allowing Osimhen to leave.
This second rejection is the second in the space of a week when Napoli have rejected Galatasaray’s bid for the Super Eagles strike-man, who is still one of the hottest forwards in the European continent.
Galatasaray had opened talks with an initial inquiry using a €65 million verbal bid last weekend, which Napoli summarily rejected as “not serious enough.”
In an attempt to raise the stakes, Turkey’s giants came back to the bargaining table on Wednesday with the €70 million offer — with this time bank papers to prove payment capacity, but that was also rejected.
Napoli are said to be insistent that any club wishing to sign Osimhen pay their lowest price. Galatasaray officials, on the other hand, are said to be considering whether or not to come back with a better bid or go shopping elsewhere.
