Popular Nigerian gospel singer, Akinade Ibuoye, professionally known as Gaise Baba, has opened up about his personal struggle with pornography addiction, despite keeping a vow of sexual purity until marriage.
In a heartfelt interview with media host Chude Jideonwo, Gaise Baba revealed he began watching adult content at the age of 15, just shortly after making a covenant of purity with God and his pastor.
“Yes, I married as a virgin—my wife and I. But I struggled,” he admitted. “Shortly after signing a covenant of purity, I got addicted to porn. That’s when I realized under the right temperature and pressure, any man can fall.”
The gospel artiste said the journey to overcoming his addiction wasn’t easy but was instrumental in shaping his music and ministry.
He also reflected on the timing of his breakthrough hit, No Turning Back, featuring fellow gospel singer Lawrence Oyor. The song, released in 2025, became viral just two weeks after Gaise Baba lost his mother.
“This season that everybody’s now talking about started two weeks after my mom passed. Funny enough, fame came when I wasn’t even seeking it anymore,” he shared.
