FIFA World Club Cup: Mikel Obi tips Chelsea to stun PSG
Former Super Eagles midfielder, John Mikel Obi, has predicted that Chelsea could upset Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
The highly anticipated final is set to take place on Sunday in New Jersey, marking the climax of the first-ever expanded edition of the tournament.
Paris Saint-Germain secured their place in the final with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Real Madrid. Chelsea, meanwhile, advanced after a solid 2-0 win over Brazilian side Fluminense.
With PSG having already won a Treble this season, they are widely regarded as favourites.
However, Mikel believes Chelsea have what it takes to compete at the highest level.
Speaking in an interview with talkSPORT, Mikel said:
“If any team can beat this PSG side, I think it’s Chelsea.
The way we’re playing, the team that we’ve got — we’ve got a very, very good young team that can compete.
I think one thing they use really well is athleticism. They have pace and power and that’s something we also have.”
Chelsea and PSG will both be aiming to claim their first title in the new Club World Cup format, which features more teams and greater global attention.
