How Prophet I.O. Samuel foretold death of Muhammadu Buhari

Nigerian cleric, Prophet I.O. Samuel, has once again drawn widespread attention with the fulfilment of one of his public prophecies—this time concerning the death of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari.

Prophet Samuel, who is the Founder and General Overseer of Shiloh Word Chapel and President of the Samaritan Foundation, had during a prophetic declaration on January 1, 2023, forewarned about the impending death of a prominent former Nigerian military president.

The prophetic word was delivered during a crossover service held at the church’s headquarters in Abuja and was documented as Prophecy Number 33 for the year 2023.

In his exact words, the cleric said:

“Remember a former military president in prayers. He is packing his bag—packing bag for the final journey. He is waving his hands for the journey of no return. Ask God for grace.”

He further clarified, saying:

“A former military president in Nigeria. Pray for him.”

At the time the prophecy was released, it sparked various interpretations and speculations, particularly because Nigeria has had a few former military rulers, including Ibrahim Babangida, Olusegun Obasanjo, Abdulsalami Abubakar, and Muhammadu Buhari, who had recently completed his second term as a democratically elected president after previously ruling as a military head of state from 1983 to 1985.

However, the prophecy took on deeper significance and clearer interpretation following the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari in July 2025.

The 82-year-old elder statesman died at a clinic in London after a brief illness, marking the end of a long and eventful life that spanned military and civilian leadership roles.
