Barack and Michelle Obama finally break silence on divorce rumors

Former U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, have finally addressed the rumours about trouble in their marriage.

The couple, who have been married for nearly 33 years, spoke openly during an episode of IMO, Michelle’s podcast co-hosted with her brother, Craig Robinson.

“What, you guys like each other?” Craig joked, breaking the ice before Michelle responded: “Oh yeah, the rumor mill.”

Barack added playfully, “She took me back! It was touch and go for a while.”

Michelle then set the record straight, saying there has never been a time she thought about leaving her husband.

“There hasn’t been one moment in our marriage where I thought about quitting my man,” she said firmly. “We’ve had hard times and a lot of fun times too. I’m a better person because of the man I married.”

The Obamas, who share two daughters, Malia (26) and Sasha (24), have been the subject of speculation in recent months, with rumors fueled by Michelle’s absence from major events, including Jimmy Carter’s funeral and President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Adding to the gossip was Barack’s comment earlier this year about being in a “deep deficit” with his wife — a statement that raised eyebrows.

But on the podcast, the couple laughed off the drama. Barack admitted he rarely notices such rumors: “These are the kinds of things I just miss. Somebody tells me and I’m like, what are you talking about?”

Michelle was less reserved in a previous podcast interview: “If I were having issues with my husband, everyone would know about it.”

The Obamas were never ever quiet with the reality of marriage, but Michelle recently suggested that this chapter of her life is a new beginning.

“For the first time, I’m totally free,” she said. “Every choice I make now is not about my husband, not about my kids — it’s about me. This is when we start living, ladies.”
