Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election and former governor of Anambra State, has visited the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State.
Although Obi was unable to attend Buhari’s burial on Tuesday, he was present at the third-day prayer (Fidau) for the late president on Wednesday.
Before the visit, Obi shared a message on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, expressing his condolences. He said that Buhari’s death was a solemn moment for both his family and the entire country.
“President Buhari always carried himself with dignity as a leader,” Obi wrote. “To his wife, children, extended family, and all Nigerians, I offer my heartfelt condolences.
May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, reward his service to the nation, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus (the highest level of paradise).”
Other notable figures at the prayer session included former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai.
