‘I’m not that boy anymore’ – Dubois promises to end Usyk’s era in Wembley rematch
Daniel Dubois is drawing a line in the sand ahead of Saturday’s blockbuster fight, declaring he’s no longer the fighter Oleksandr Usyk beat two and a half years ago.
The 27-year-old British heavyweight, full of fire and confidence, says this rematch at Wembley is not about survival, rather, it’s about ending the Ukrainian champion’s reign.
“I’m not the same boy from our first fight. I’m in my prime now,” Dubois said at the final press conference on Thursday.
Usyk, the unbeaten heavyweight, walked into the presser and flashed three fingers in Dubois’ face. Not a prediction of an early knockout, but a message: he’s hunting his third undisputed crown.
The Ukrainian has already conquered the cruiserweight division and twice dethroned giants Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. Now, he wants to take the last belt standing, Dubois’ WBA title, to cement his legacy.
“No way,” Dubois fired back. “He’s wrong about me. I’m ready to shock the world.”
At Wednesday’s public workout, Dubois bounced across the ring with energy, shouting to the crowd like a man on a mission. Usyk, meanwhile, shadowboxed with surgical precision, rehearsing the same uppercuts that dismantled British giants before him.
Both fighters agree on one thing: “We’re ready to rumble.” But come Saturday night at Wembley, only one man will leave as the undisputed heavyweight king.
